[ the brief ]

Taking Savings for Life further

Alongside my role at Mathare Community Outreach, I took on a contract advisory assignment with Bright Hope International to support its Savings for Life programmes in Uganda.

[ what I did ]

Tools, training and strategy

  • Provided technical oversight and strategic advice for programmes using VSLA approaches.
  • Developed work plans, technical tools, training materials and implementation strategies for livelihoods and economic-strengthening programmes.
  • Trained and mentored programme staff on financial inclusion and savings-group approaches.
  • Advised on digital finance, market access and youth economic empowerment.
  • Strengthened collaboration with government agencies, financial institutions and development partners.

[ the outcome ]

Consistent delivery, adapted locally

The training and tools supported consistent programme delivery while letting teams adapt methods to their own contexts, connecting what had worked in Mathare with programmes across the border.
